"Be Ye Also Ready"

Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. “Be ye also READY” to hear this phrase coming from my father who is the person who graced me with the title of PK (Pastors Kid) often meant so many things as a child of a family in ministry. From as soon as I can remember, I was always told that I needed to be ready for anything. Not that I was equipped, trained, or even interested in most of these most auspicious tasks. But it was a requirement of a role that you never asked for, something that it was assumed came along with built-in talents and gifts. I can’t explain how many times, I was told that “He won’t give you more than you can bear”. Well, who is “he” that you can hear from him and I can’t, enough to be able to choose what real gifts, talents, and even desires I had as a PK. If shoes needed to be filled, I was automatically deemed qualified and required to fill that role. What if I felt called to just be normal, whatever that meant?

As I grew in my pursuit of individuality and my own identity, I was given the title of the rebel. The child who always questioned theology and the reason that this “God” you told me to serve was always angry with me. That his pursuit of me was to only make me someone that he wanted me to be that I would never accomplish because I am a “sinner”. This call to “Be Ye Also Ready” left me with more questions than answers.

After many years of trial and error in most areas of my life, God found me with all my philosophies, rules, regulations, and misused “scriptures” in a tangled confused mess. But just like God word says in 2 Timothy 1:9 Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not

because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us

in Christ Jesus before the ages began. As God showed me his plan for my life, the plan that he created especially for me, before the foundations of the earth. I then began a personal pursuit. The one that I knew was part of the original plan that would lead me to the place of being ready. Ready to offer Christ to others in a way they never experienced. To be settled with navigating the unknown, the areas that I was told I wasn’t supposed to pass through. But being ready doesn’t mean it will always be easy. God creates PK’s for a journey unlike any other position in ministry. We have been created to be strong foundations, creators, originators. So unlike the times when the mandate of being ready was a requirement, it is now a desire. One that has led me to a relationship with my heavenly Father that is unwavering, willing, and ready to embark on all the things that God has for me and my house as we serve the Lord. So… Be Ye Also READY! Ready to pursue and overtake the land.
